Carlisle is the home of the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility that houses about 2000 offenders. The Indiana Department of Corrections is a great place to work with good pay and benefits and if you live in Carlisle you are just a minute from home where you can live and raise your family. They carry a full line of home improvement items.

Carlisle has a Dollar General store for those last minute or forgotten items where they carry fresh produce and dry goods as well as household necessities.

One of the best things about living in Carlisle is during the spring and summer months we have farm markets with in a 1/4 mile of the Town where you can get all the fresh field to table produce you will ever want. In our area you can find the best Sweet Corn, Watermelons and Cantaloupe you will ever eat. You can drive down Old US 41 just south of Carlisle in the spring and see fresh Asparagus that is ready first thing in the spring and go to one of the local markets and buy it within hours of being harvested.

Speaking of churches we have a Methodist Church, Chrisitian Church and Baptist Church all right in Town and several other churches just on the fringes that excellent fellowship and are very community oriented.

Recreation in Southwest Indiana is not lacking, here in Sullivan County where Carlisle is located we have The Sullivan Park and Lake where the fishing is excellent and water sports as well as camping and summer activites like 4th of July celebration is second to none. We have many strip pits and an lakes in the area that are part of the Department of Natural Rescources Parks, a State Forrest and we are very close to Vincennes Indiana which is Indiana first city with tons of historic sites to see. In Carlisle you are only about 2 hours from Holiday World and Splashing Safari and just a about 4 hours from Louisville Ky, 90 minutes from French Lick Indiana.
